Labour Party Chieftain accuses Wike of working with Judges to deliver Abia for PDP

A Chieftain of Labour Party, Elder Cosmos Okorie has accused the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, Barrister Nyemsom Wike of boasting about delivering Abia state government and National Assembly seats to PDP.

He said Wike is crossing his boundaries by attempting to interfere in Abia politics for his selfish interests.

Okorie made the statement on Friday while speaking on the victory of Gov Alex Otti at the Abia State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal

He congratulated Alex Otti on the upholding of his election victory and commended the courage and sagacity exhibited by the 3-man panel of the tribunal which dismissed three of the prayers brought forth by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okey Ahaiwe, against Otti.

He also commended Abians for believing in Otti’s government and charged judges to ignore corruption infested individuals who believe in using government resources to purchase judgement.

According to the Labour Chieftain, “ we are not just happy that we won in the court we are happy because the judges refused to toe the wrong path. Wike gave Abia PDP the assurance of lobbying the judges to declare candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Okey Ahaiwe, winner of the election.

“He also wanted some House of Representatives seats and senate seats for the PDP especially Abia Central and Abia North but it all failed.

“We know he would try again in the higher courts but I am appealing to the judges to stand firm on what is right. The judges should distance themselves from Wike to avoid destruction. Abia is just one out of several states he would need to Pursue his 2027 presidential ambition. Abia state is Labour and we are not going back. The PDP took us so much backward and we have moved past dark governance. “ He said

The tribunal, which delivered its judgement at approximately 1:20 p.m., ruled that Ahaiwe’s case against Otti of the Labour Party (LP) lacked merit.

Ahaiwe had contested the declaration of Otti as the duly elected governor by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
