The Rivers Diaspora Professionals Forum has alerted the Minister of FCT Barr Nyesom Wike and the Rivers State Governor Sim Fubara about the ongoing attempts of a Few Igbo Elders and Leaders to scuttle the 2023 Ohanaeze Ndigbo Igbo Day in Rivers State with false alarming reports through some faceless organizations with intentions to deny the turn of Rivers State and her constitutional right to produce the next President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo by January 2025.
The organization accused the Imo State Government of being behind the plot, saying that the 2023 Igbo Day in Rivers State is also the rightful turn of Rivers State because it will be a basis for discussion on how to kick start the process of selecting the next President General Ohanaeze Ndigbo for a single four-year term (2025-2029).
The Rivers Diaspora Professionals leadership led by Professor Oyirinda Chile-Philips of the University of Amsterdam as Chairman and Professor Jackie Ezenwo of the University of Hong Kong as Secretary wishes to put the records straight for posterity, saying that the 2023 Igbo Day held in Rivers State has the endorsement of the organization.
The group said it has tracked down the clandestine actions to blackmail HE Barr Nyesom Wike with the plot of hijacking the process to produce the next President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo because of the political importance attached to the office of President General Ohanaeze Ndigbo, as the person is a factor of giving political direction to Igbo Nation in 2027 Presidency.
The group called on FCT Minister Wike & Governor Fubara to be aware of this plot.
