Civil Liberties Organization CLO Anambra State has made passionate and life saving appeal to Gov. Charles Chukwumah Soludo to re-award contract for completion of abandoned Ugwuakwu-Ibughubu-Achalla road that link to Umunze in Orumba North LG.
It will be recall that the road was awarded by former governor Chief Willie Obiano to decongest ever busy Nkwo Umuchu-Osete road,curtail incessant road accidents, gives the community sense of belonging as the road was then inaccessible.
After completion of nearly forty percent of the project,it was abandoned due to paucity of funds.
As a result of torrential downpour some sections of the dilapidated and deplorable road has become nightmarish and inaccessible to indigenes,commuters and visitors.
This is contained in a press statement issued to newsmen by Comrades Vincent Ezekwueme and Chidi Mbah Chairman and secretary respectful tagged “when one suffers directly everyone suffers indirectly”calls on governor Soludo to swing into action and dispatch his commissioner of works and Transition Committee Chairman of Aguata LG Hon.Chibuike Offorbuike for on the spot assessment of the pathetic and pitiable condition of the road for prompt and immediate solution.
It is of prime importance to note that if urgent and immediate step is not taking by the government to ameliorate the predicament of the road users, it will disconnect the village from local government.It has cost great havoc, erosion, excruciating pains and sufferings to the people.
CLO equally commends a philanthropist and indigene of the town Chief Abraham Oti (Mighty Mighty) for singlehandedly constructed Achalla Umuchu road and built eight bungalows for eight families from different villages in Umuchu and your numerous poverty reduction and eradication programs.We appeal to other affluent individuals to emulates his humanitarian and patriotic gesture.
Worthy of commendation is His Excellency massive roads construction and rehabilitation especially Niger Street,Iweka, Ziks Avenue roads in Onitsha,Ekwulobia Flyover and others. We solicits for extension of such good gesture to Ugwuakwu-Ibughubu-Achalla and Obinna Iloh Street in Nkwelle to Nkpor CLO posited.
