The Amnesty International, AI, Nigeria has called on the Nigerian security agencies to release a couple abducted from their home in Enugu by their officers.
According to Amnesty International Nigeria, Sunday Ifedi the husband and his wife Calista, were abducted by Nigerian security agents from their home in Enugu on 23 November 2021, accusing them of being members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
As a result of their absence, their children have all dropped out of school and living in agony.
The International Human Rights body also revealed that the security forces restricted access to the couple and even lawyers were not allowed to speak with the couple.
“They are held without access to lawyer or family. Their whereabouts remain unknown. Amnesty International is again calling on the Nigerian authorities to grant their family and lawyers access to them, charge them to court, or release them from detention immediately,” AI said in a post on Sunday.

It should be recalled that then former President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration were on a mission to crackdown on the membership of IPOB and it’s supporters after the group was outlawed by Nigerian court.
