Afamefula Movie is not just for only entertainment, but it’s a movie centered on the story of the Igbo Apprenticeship system, which started in the 60’s after or before the Nigeria/Biafra civil war.
A few flashbacks showed that after the war which over 3 million Igbos were killed, those that survived the war were left devastated and found themselves starting afresh, it was so hard for them as especially as a region known for trade and commerce.
Hence the slogans, “Onye Aghala Nwanne ya” – simply means , “Do not leave your brother behind” was embedded into the apprenticeship system that has raised over millions of Igbo billionaires across the globe.
