Drambi Vandi, the suspended policeman who killed Bolanle Raheem, a Lagos-based lawyer, has been sentenced to death by hanging.
A Lagos State high court sentenced him on Monday after he was found guilty of killing Raheem on December 25, 2022.
According to TVC, Justice Ibironke Harrison of the Lagos High Court said the police officer’s defence that he didn’t shoot the deceased has no leg to stand on.
He was found guilty on the strength of the witnesses of the prosecution, who gave ‘ovwewhelming circumstantial evidence” against him.
Meanwhile, 41-year-old Raheem was returning from a church service with her family on Christmas day when Vandi, who was attached to the Ajiwe police division, shot and killed her.
